Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 23, 2026

Appcellent Yazılım Hizmetleri Anonim Şirketi ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates the mobile application Decibel Meter & dB Sound Level (the "App"). Because the App listens through your microphone and can use your camera, we want to be precise about what happens to that data: it is processed on your device and it stays there.

This Privacy Policy explains what the App accesses, what leaves your device, and what rights you have. By downloading or using the App, you consent to the practices described here.

1. Microphone Access

The App cannot measure sound without the microphone. When a measurement is running, audio is captured in short buffers, converted into a sound pressure level, and analysed for frequency content in real time on your device.

  • No recording by default: Ordinary measurements do not create an audio file. The buffers are analysed and immediately discarded — what is kept is the numeric result (levels over time), not the sound itself.
  • No transmission: Audio is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. There is no server involved in measuring; the App works fully offline.
  • No speech processing: We do not perform speech recognition and do not attempt to identify who or what is making a sound.
  • Revoking access: You can withdraw microphone permission at any time from Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone on your device. The App will stop measuring, and nothing else is affected.

2. Camera Access

Camera access is optional and is only used by the camera mode, which shows the live decibel readout on top of the camera image and can record that view as a video clip.

  • The camera preview is rendered on screen only. Nothing is captured unless you press record.
  • Clips you record are written to the App's private storage on your device. They are recorded without an audio track, because the microphone stays dedicated to the meter.
  • Clips are never uploaded. They leave your device only if you share them yourself using the iOS share sheet, in which case the destination app's own privacy policy applies.
  • You can withdraw camera permission at any time from Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

3. Location Access

Location access is optional. It exists for one purpose: when you save a measurement, the App can label it with the place it was taken (for example "office" or a nearby place name) so your records are easier to tell apart.

  • Location is only requested while the App is in use, never in the background.
  • The place name and coordinates are stored inside the saved measurement on your device. They are not sent to us.
  • If you decline the permission, everything else in the App keeps working; measurements are simply saved without a place label.

4. Your Measurements and Recordings

Saved measurements — the name you give them, the date, the duration, the minimum, average, maximum and peak levels, the noise dose, the graph data, and any place label, audio or video file — are stored locally on your device.

  • We have no copy of them and no way to read them.
  • They are included in your device backup if you back up your iPhone, under Apple's terms.
  • Deleting a record inside the App deletes it and its associated files from your device. Deleting the App removes all of them.

5. Information We Automatically Collect

To keep the App stable and to understand which features people actually use, we collect a limited amount of technical and usage data. None of it contains your audio, your recordings or your measurements.

  • Device information: device model, operating system version, App version and language settings.
  • Usage events: anonymous, aggregated events such as which screens are opened, when a measurement is started or saved, and whether a purchase screen was shown or dismissed. These are tied to a randomly generated identifier for the installation, not to your name or your Apple ID.
  • Crash and performance data: used to find and fix bugs.

The App does not use the App Tracking Transparency prompt, does not access your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

6. Personal Data and User Input

You do not need an account to use the App, and we do not ask you for your name, email address or any other identifying information.

  • Customer support: if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you.
  • Names you type: the titles you give your measurements stay on your device.

7. In-App Purchases and Payments

The App offers premium features through auto-renewable subscriptions.

  • Transaction handling: all payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see, receive or store your card details or billing address.
  • Subscription status: we use RevenueCat to validate purchases and to know whether your subscription is active. This is linked to an anonymous installation identifier, not to your Apple ID.

8. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We work with a small number of service providers who process limited data on our behalf:

  • Mixpanel — product and usage analytics (the anonymous events described in section 5).
  • RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management.
  • Apple — App Store distribution, payments and, if you enable it, iCloud device backup.

These providers are contractually obliged to protect the data and to process it only for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or as part of a merger, acquisition or asset sale involving Appcellent Yazılım Hizmetleri Anonim Şirketi.

9. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may be located outside your country of residence. By using the App you acknowledge that the limited data described above may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. We apply appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to those transfers.

10. Data Retention

Analytics and subscription records are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or to meet legal obligations. Support correspondence is kept until your issue is resolved. Your measurements are kept on your device for as long as you keep them.

11. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, KVKK, CCPA and Global)

Depending on where you live — including the European Union, the United Kingdom, Türkiye and California — you have rights over your data:

  • Right of access: you may ask what data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion: you may ask us to delete it.
  • Right to object: you may object to our processing of usage analytics.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@appcellent.co.

12. Data Deletion Request

You can request deletion of the data held by our providers:

Email: privacy@appcellent.co
Subject: "Data Deletion Request - Decibel Meter"

Please include:

  • The type of device you used the App on (iOS)
  • Approximate date of first use
  • (Optional) the Subscription ID shown in the App under Settings > Billing > Subscription ID, which lets us find the right records

Within 30 days we will delete the associated records from Mixpanel and RevenueCat — except where retention is required by law, such as for tax and accounting purposes — and confirm by email. Measurements stored on your device are under your control: delete them in the App, or delete the App.

13. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

14. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or to legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
